From the Moon!

May is a busy time of year and Four Moons knows you don't always have enough time in your day. Perhaps picking the right wine for a graduation dinner or just selecting a gift for a friend is slowing you down. Let us give you a hand by offering a couple of suggestions! During the month of May Four Moons will be featuring two outstanding wines:

Red Wine of the Month
2006 Marquis Phillips #9 Shiraz
The highly respected South Australian viticulturists/winemakers, Sarah and Sparky Marquis, in partnership with their importer, Dan Philips of the Grateful Palate, successfully launched the line of Marquis Philips wines several years ago, creating something of a monster because of their enormous crowd appeal. The philosophy behind Marquis Phillips wines is to develop rich fruit depth, structure and distinctive varietal characteristics. 2006 represents the final year of this joint venture, so don't miss out on this exceptional wine!

White Wine of the Month
2004 Audesirk Chardonnay
When a group of friends started Audesirk Vineyards (AH-du-serk), they set out to achieve one major goal: to create premium Napa Valley wines at an affordable price. How do they do it? Taking a unique approach to the wine business, the team at Audesirk sources fruit from a number of high end growers in Napa Valley, eliminating the expense of maintaining a vineyard, and then collaborates with the best winemakers in the Napa Valley to create Audesirk’s portfolio of wines. The only difference between Audesirk wines and other well-known Napa Valley brands is the price.

Maybe we've tempted you a little bit with this month's selections, if not, drop by Four Moons and we will do all we can to find the wine that is just right for you! And here's to all of your May Day celebrations--may they be pleasant ones!

From the Moon!

Last Friday night, the staff at Four Moons had the opportunity to demonstrate how enjoyable and affordable summertime wines can be.  April's wine event featured the light and fruity wines of the Mediterranean.  Guests were able to sample white wines from Italy and Greece, a rose from Provence, France, and Spanish reds.  Chef Zeran's Mediterranean-themed appetizers were a perfect accompaniment.

We invite you to consider these selections as an alternative to the usual Chardonnay or Merlot when preparing for your next warm-weather get-together.  We think you'll find them to be both fun and refreshing!

2006 Masciarelli Trebbiano--a touch of sweetness, with excellent fruit; from Italy

2006 Fuedi di San Gregorio Falanghina--a dry and refreshing wine of Southern Italy

2006 Nasiakos Moschofilero--an excellent Greek white wine with a lemony finish--the evening's favorite!

2007 Chateau Latour L'Eveque Petal de Rose--a light, delicate aperitif-style rose from France

2006 Altos de la Hoya--a 'knock-out' red wine from Spain; perfect with any grilled foods

2005 Seis Tempranillo--a classic Spanish red wine at a great price!

So if you missed the tasting, don't despair--come by Four Moons Wine and Gourmet and our excellent staff will help you make your summer evenings more memorable with wine selections from the sunny Med.

Four Moons Wine & Food Pairing

Congratulations to Executive Chef Charles Zeran and Pastry Chef Colleen Zeran on a fabulous array of culinary delights at the March 24th Food and Wine Pairing held at Buck Ridge Plantation. The food was amazing from start to finish. The Crab and fish - flown in fresh that afternoon - melted in your mouth. We moved on to a choice of either Duck or Fungus entree that was simply to die for. And, of course, no one can forget the ultimate dessert (should we say what it was?)- all you can say is delish!

The wines for the evening was brought to us by Advintage out of Charleston. Henry from Advintage and Ryan our Sommelier and Manager at Four Moons did a bang up job pairing each and every dish. The fact that you walked away with a better knowledge of food and wine was a pleasant extra to a wonderful evening.

Everyone walked away with a feeling of anticipation for the opening of the restaurant. We want to thank you for being a part of our great evening and wish all of you and your families a wonderful Spring time and we all look forward to the Summer.

Wines of the month for April

April is upon us! Spring is in the air and the Moon Man wants a suitable wine. Always willing to accommodate, we have selected the following as our

Wines of the Month:

2006 Saintsbury Chardonnay
The 2006 Chardonnay unites brilliant flavors with just the right structure and palate-feel. The flavors are classic citrus and pear — concentrated and focused nicely in the mid-palate. It has terrific length, is fully flavored, and finishes crisply.

2006 Suxx Shiraz
You think the  moon is playing you the Fool. Think again.
Suxx Shiraz was 'made to be big, bad, bold, and over the top, designed to offend and indulge and arouse.' Although the label states the wine has 15.9% alcohol, Philips says it may actually be 16.5-17%. The 2006 Shiraz was aged for 14 months in new French and American oak barriques, and hogsheads of various conditions. Purple-colored, it offers an expressive bouquet of espresso, mocha, licorice, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. Full-bodied, big, fat, and voluptuous in the mouth, all components including the alcohol are well-integrated.

Hurry down and see us soon

Don’t be last to the Moon…
